P H O E N I X, Partying With the Band, and Learning Some Things About "Friends"Well, so the band was in town last week, and JT and D were interviewing them on the air, and they did a short in-station set. It was cool as hell, and they are really laid back chill down to Earth guys. They did an instore later that night, and one of the band members came right up to me when they were setting up (the store was packed mind you), and said in a very sweet French accent, "How are you doing?" etc. It was nice to be recognized and have an interior monologue saying....I know him, he's in the band. Later, R. invited the band and the posse back to his house for dinner. He cooked up a feast and we had good food and good wine, and then went out to hear some authentic Nashville bluegrass music. They were all very pleased. We were all getting a little loose, and this guy was sort of inappropriate with me...making JT and R pissed off, particularly at D. for inviting / being friends with this guy. I wasn't mad at D. until I found out that he'd been concerned as I left the club, and then went on ahead and hung out with the guy for the rest of the night till the wee hours of the morning and probably never addressed the issue at all. I felt the knife slide into my back. How does one slide from concern to partying so quickly? It felt like betrayal. So the episode has turned into a big blow up between these friends, this group of friends that I have just joined...so D and I have to have a little talk because I don't know what the status of our friendship will be, as at present I don''t feel like I can trust him. We'll see how it goes. JT doesn't particularly feel good about it all, and he's known D for a while. We'll see what we all find out.
